Jack and the beanstalk

Fun with fairy tales

I had the pleasure of running a storytelling workshop with Year 7 students at Collège Français Bilingue de Londres (CFBL).  They were preparing to re-tell the traditional fairy tale of Jack and the Beanstalk to their primary class.  All of the children were  already familiar with the tale.

This meant that we could throw ourselves directly into character work for each of the characters in the story and voice-work to display the emotions for each of the characters.

My favourite activity was getting the pupils to pair up and pretend to ‘witness’ what Jack had done at the Giant’s house.

This is a wonderful exercise for re-telling a story from a different point of view.  We did a lot of laughing!
