This summer, I’ll be Storytelling at the London Museum, taking part in their celebration of London’s Caribbean Culture. I was very excited when they asked me to write a post for their blog about my memories of attending London’s iconic Notting Hill Carnival, exploring its Caribbean roots, cultural significance and evolution over decades. As a child growing up in the 1970s, my parents felt that attending Nottinghill Carnival was an important part of our culture – not just to celebrate and remember our history but also to join together with the wider London community. For those of you who have been over the years, you probably share some of the same memories as me.
Here’s my blog post – Nottinghill Carnival: Memories, Roots and Rhythms.
