Below are my usual Terms and Conditions. After we agree the details of our event, I send you an Agreement Letter with the details you’ve checked, plus cancellation, payment and any relevant technical and recording terms. The terms and conditions we agree might differ slightly from those below, which are for your general information only.
Cancellation
- If I am prevented from reaching you by illness, accident, weather or transport failure we each bear any costs we’ve already incurred and we rearrange the event date with your permission.
- If you cancel more than four calendar weeks before the event, half the fee is payable, plus any incurred costs such as booked trains etc. (If we can arrange another date within six months of the original date, a £50 admin fee is payable instead.)
- If you cancel under four weeks before the event, the full fee is payable. (The same re-arrangement option applies.)
Payment
- You do not need to deduct tax or add me to the pay-roll. I operate a limited company and pay all my taxes. My registered company number and address will be on my invoice. HMRC does not require me to provide any other information to prove my employment status.
- If you wish me to include any other specific information on my invoice, such as a Purchase Order number, or to fill in any supplier forms and provide details on headed letter paper, please tell me in advance – you’ll be asked this in my booking email.
- BACS details will be on my invoice. Payment terms are 30 days from invoice unless otherwise agreed at the time of booking. A £50 pcm admin fee will be added for chasing late payments.
Public Liability Insurance
- I have PL insurance with the Society of Authors, with a cover of £10million. Please contact the SoA if you wish to confirm.
- Note that a condition of all such insurance is that an author is never left alone with students.
Photos, Filming & Social Media
- Photos of me may be taken but not recordings, unless agreed in advance under certain terms which will include a time limit.

Marketing and Credits
- You may use approved photos of me in your digital marketing material. Hi res photos can be downloaded from my website
- Please credit photographers when applicable and link through to my website wendyshearer.co.uk from my name ‘Wendy Shearer’ in your online event information if possible.
