Who we are
This notice explains how Storyboat Tales Ltd, trading as Wendy Shearer, collects and uses personal information when you visit wendyshearer.co.uk or contact us through it. In this notice, “we” and “us” mean Storyboat Tales Ltd. We are the controller of this information.

When you use our contact forms
Our contact forms ask for your name, email address and message, and other information about your enquiry. We use this information only to reply to you and to discuss any work you are interested in.
Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
Form messages are sent to us by email and stored in our Gmail account, which is provided by Google Workspace. If your enquiry does not lead to work, we delete it 24 months after our last contact. If it does, our Client & Services Privacy Notice applies from then on.
Please do not include sensitive information, such as health details, in your message unless it is needed for your enquiry.
When you visit the website
Like most websites, our web host, Hostinger, records technical information each time a page is requested. This includes your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the date and time. These logs are used to keep the site secure and working, and are deleted after 7 days. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
Fonts on the site are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers and shares your IP address with Google.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. The site also uses your browser’s local storage for some basic functions. We set the cookies below only if you accept them in our cookie banner, except where they are strictly necessary. You can change your choice at any time using [the cookie settings link at the foot of each page].

Google Analytics keeps the statistics it collects for 14 months.
If you decline cookies, embedded videos and audio may not play until you accept them. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you are logged in to YouTube or Spotify, those services may link what you watch or listen to on this site to your account.
Links to other websites
The site links to other services, including Eventbrite, Substack, Amazon, Instagram and LinkedIn. When you follow a link or book through one of them, that service’s own privacy policy applies.

We do not sell your information. The organisations below process it for the reasons given in this notice.

Google is based in the United States and may process your information outside the UK. Where it does, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK–US data bridge or contract terms approved for UK transfers. You can ask us for details using our contact form. You can read how Google handles information in its privacy policy.
How we keep your information secure
Only Wendy [and anyone else, if named] can access the personal information we hold. Our Google Workspace account is protected by two-step verification, and we keep the website and its plugins up to date.
Your rights and how to complain
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to limit how we use your information
- object to how we use your information
- withdraw your consent to cookies at any time
To make a request, use our contact form and choose “Subject access request” under “What is your enquiry about?”, or write to us at our registered office. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act on a request. There is usually no charge, and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) on 0303 123 1113 or at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this notice
We review this notice at least every 12 months, and whenever we change how the website works.
